Blue-Stream Services Helps Increase Profits for Texas Oil Refinery…
When an oil refinery in Texas needed supplemental process cooling to increase production (and profits) during peak market times, Blue-Stream Services was able to provide the winning solution. Using temporary cooling tower systems in the past had allowed the plant to achieve cold water supply temperatures ranging from 95°F to 100°F at one of their key process heat exchangers. Since the use of Supplemental Cooling Systems in this area of the plant increases the overall output production of the refinery and significantly adds to the refinery’s profits, the refineries tend to operate by the mantra of “Colder is Better”…
When Blue-Stream Services was selected to execute the portable Cooling Tower project, Blue-Stream Services installed many custom components to the Cooling Tower System to ensure compliance with the stringent safety classification of “Class I, Division II”. The primary components of the Rental Cooling Tower System were automated, offered 100% pump system redundancy, and all electrical distribution panels and component panels were customized and purged with instrument air.
Since the Rental Cooling Towers have been operational at the site, the design of the portable cooling tower system, which provides temperatures over 15 degrees colder than previous rental cooling tower systems, has allowed the plant to increase profits by much more than originally planned.
In this case, as with many others, Colder is Better… and the refinery is extremely pleased with the performance of Blue-Stream Services. The plant was so pleased that they have now added another Rental Cooling Tower System ,which is double in size, to provide cooling to a separate part of the plant.
